About
Derek Elz has over twenty-one years’ experience in the film, television and video industry as a director, cinematographer, editor, producer, writer, and university educator.
As a creative, Derek is grateful for a full and diverse career, including years in Hollywood working with large studios where he contributed to the success of several films and television series. He's also shot and directed episodic series, indie features and docs along with hundreds of commercial shoots.
Founding Welcome Media Works as a full service production house in 2010, Elz and his (skilled and friendly) crew have collaborated with noteworthy clients including: The U.S. Army, AT&T, Carhartt, Google, Axe, SmartMouth, School Zone, BMW, Sprint, Schlafly Beer, BJC, LMI Aerospace, NEC, Intermedia, Forest Park Forever, The Contemporary Art Museum of St. Louis, The Pulitzer Foundation, The St. Louis Symphony, The Detroit Lions, The Rams, MLB All Star Game Series, San Jose Quakes, and has filmed many more projects for Warner Brothers Studios, Bravo, CBS, Discovery Channel, CInemax, CNN, Now This, HBO.
